What’s in store for America’s 250th birthday in Dutchess County

In honor of America’s 250th anniversary on July 4, 2026, Destination Dutchess is bringing the county’s Revolutionary War history to residents through collaborative efforts that meet them where they live.

“While no battles were fought in Dutchess County (much to the relief of residents at the time), we nevertheless played a critical role in the struggle for independence,” Dutchess County Historian William P. Tatum III said in an email statement.

Dutchess Tourism Inc., now Destination Dutchess, celebrated 10 years of growth earlier this year with a brand refresh, to show the community they’re not resting on their laurels, according to president and CEO Melaine Rottkamp, and they have big things planned for America’s 250th birthday.
